I have received a lot of emails about Carol's show being sold on DVD and the only sanctioned DVD set was through Columbia House which you can get on amazon.com legitamically. It's two episodes on one disc and some have Carol, Harvey and Tim commenting on the episodes. But if you find a website that's offereing all episodes from the beginning, it's bogus. They get away with it because what they mean is from the beginning of the TVLand marathon. TVLand played the Carol Burnett and Friends episodes that Turner Broadcasting Station (TBS) aired years before. THE EARLY YEARS OF THE SHOW ARE NOT ON DVD! Below is a first hand account. (many thanks to Troy for his "thoughts" and many thanks to John for his email below)
Update: Here's a website that even stole my banner and though I've emailed them, they refuse to take it down. (I know it's my banner because I photoshopped Lyle's head on Harvey's body because Lyle had already left the show by that time) AVOID AT ALL COSTS http://www.carolburnettdvd.com/

Hi Marcella,
First of all, thank you for your Carol Burnett website. From time to time I log on to see news and look at videoclips.
I just wanted to share how happy I was to find a website in Canada that sells the Carol Burnett and Friends "Complete Episodes" 8 DVD's set. Soon as I saw it, I purchased it, about 1 year ago. The site was called: wwwtvdvdplanet.com
When I received the DVD's, the first thing I noticed is that they were homemade DVD-R's. The first DVD player I tried, was not compatible with the DVD's. When I found a DVD player where they would work, I was excited to see the shows, but quickly found many problems.
1. They are taped off of TVLAND television and are of poor resolution. Some with lots of interference, as you can imaging...like "Stormy weather expected in the area...." scrolling at the bottom of the screen , etc.
2. 3 of the DVD's were very problematic: one being a copy of one of the other 5 DVD's. Another was blank. And the third only was partially recorded shows and then the second half was blank.
3. The DVD Planet website was taken down and later resurfaced as www.tvaddicts.com with the same customer service phone number.
I've been waiting for a replacement mailer for almost a year. Every other month I call, with a promise to send the mailer. At this point, I'm afraid of sending back the DVD set, even though it is faulty, for fear of never get it back or anything else.
This week, I was told that the DVD set is on back order. ARRRrrrggggg!!
Anyway, Buyer beware of that 8 DVD set.
Take care and thank you for listening.
Sincerely,
John
